I am a chartered counselling psychologist, and UKCP registered psychotherapist with experience in working with adults of different ages and life challenges, including relational challenges, psychological pain, physical health problems, acquired brain injury or disease. My practice is influenced by three axons: philosophical perspectives on a meaningful life, specialist clinical knowledge on and experience with mental suffering and contemporary scientific knowledge about the mind and the brain.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires me to provide clients with details of how I store and process personal information.
- Personal information stored on my password-protected electronic devices (i.e., computer and mobile phone) will comprise client’s name, email address and invoices (if applicable). I keep these to be able to contact clients to arrange our sessions and payment.
- I also store separately, in my password-protected and encrypted computer, anonymised (where possible) case notes, a record of the general themes, goals and progress of therapy. Keeping this data is an important aspect of the ethical principles of providing healthcare according to my professional accrediting and registering bodies – namely the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Personal information stored in paper form comprises details of clients’ General Practitioner (if applicable), and any signed consent forms (if applicable). All information in paper form is stored in a locked cabinet at my home.
- Hand-written, process notes I may make on therapeutic work during or just after sessions to help me think and improve my practice, or communicate with my supervisor, are always fully anonymised and kept in paper form. All information in paper form is stored in a locked cabinet at my home.
- All such data (i.e., information held in both electronic and paper form) is not shared with anyone, unless required by lawful summons. In such a case, a client would be given access to all records (except the full anonymised process notes that do not come under GDPR) in question before submission.
- Additionally, any data retained by me (except the full anonymised process notes that do not come under GDPR) is available to clients upon request at any time and to be delivered within thirty calendar days.
Finally, all data will be retained for seven years after completion of therapy by each client, as suggested by my insurer and professional accrediting and registering bodies – namely the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
