Michal Tanzer

Dr. Michal Tanzer is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the UCL Department of Clinical, Education & Health Psychology, working with Prof Martin Debbane and in Prof Katerina Fotopoulou’s Lab. She awarded the “Israeli Science Foundation Post Doctoral fellowship in Social Sciences” and the “Women Postdoctoral scholarship of the Planning and Budgeting Committee in Israel”.

Michal studied a BSc in Life Sciences, MA and a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. During her postgraduate studies, she studied the role of personal and interpersonal resilience in the perception of emotional facial expressions.

Michal trained as a clinical psychologist at Soroka medical centre, at the Trauma clinic for children and youth, Beer-Sheva, Israel. After she finished her internship she served as the head of the para-medical team in the clinic, gaining vast experience in psychodynamic, integrative and cognitive-behavioural therapies for individuals suffering from range of psychopathologies.

Michal’s research interests are on individuals’ differences in neurocognitive, developmental, social and emotional aspects in relation to risk to psychopathology and importantly in relation to resilience, (i.e., what makes certain individuals more immune to life adversities).
