Dr. Athanasios (Thanos) Koukoutsakis is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the UCL Department of Clinical, Education & Health Psychology, working in Prof Katerina Fotopoulou’s Lab.
Thanos studied a BSc in Physics at the University of Athens, an MSc in Elementary Particle Theory and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics at Durham University, a BSc in Psychology at the Open University and an MBA (Finance) at Leicester University.
Thanos worked for a number of years in the Financial Derivatives Risk Management Software industry as Financial Engineer, Business Analyst and Project Manager, in various financial centres like London, New York, Dubai, Kuwait, Amsterdam, and Brussels. In 2007 he set up (and ran for 10 years) Torux Software, a consultancy based in the UK and India to provide software development and consultancy services to Investment Banks and Hedge Funds. Torux Software was also a member of INBIOSOIL, an EU FP7 Eco-Innovation consortium, working on the development of software for Project Valuations and Business Plans for the consortium products. In addition, Thanos worked in two missions as Logistician for the Doctors Without Borders in Africa.
Thanos’ research interests are in all aspects of computational neuroscience.
